I <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/RMerl\/asuswrt-merlin.ng\/search?q=in%3Afile+namecheap&amp;type=\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/github.com\/RMerl\/asuswrt-merlin.ng\/search?q=in%3Afile+namecheap&amp;type=\" target=\"_blank\">searched its source code at Github for &#8220;Namecheap&#8221;<\/a> to see if I can fix the HTTP 400 error (seen in router log) using &#8220;in:file&#8221; hoping to see if I can fix the bug myself (since it&#8217;s just a simple REST API, aka URL call) command and found this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"341\" src=\"https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-1024x341.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-1024x341.png 1024w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-300x100.png 300w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1-768x256.png 768w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-1.png 1323w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It means Asuswrt-Merlin (Tomato)&#8217;s firmware&#8217;s Namecheap DDNS service is broken UNTIL 384.7_2, which is for newer routers than what I have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I compared the &#8220;namecheap&#8221; keyword search for the two versions and it seems like they are written very differently, so it might not be worth the effort to fix the obsolete Merlin branch. Doing a bit of additional search and discussions about John&#8217;s Merlin fork from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snbforums.com\/threads\/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-43-lts-releases-archive.18914\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">early days<\/a> are still updated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.snbforums.com\/threads\/rt-n66u-firmware-upgrade-from-old-merlin-build.61273\/post-542227\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">until 2019-04-17<\/a> :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"273\" src=\"https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-2-1024x273.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2445\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-2-1024x273.png 1024w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-2-300x80.png 300w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-2-768x205.png 768w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-2-1536x409.png 1536w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-2.png 1795w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It took me a while to find John&#8217;s forum post to get to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.snbforums.com\/threads\/fork-asuswrt-merlin-374-43-lts-releases-archive.18914\/post-482102\">the said 2019-04-18 release<\/a>.  The <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/onedrive.live.com\/?authkey=%21AAkJBWoo%2DOiyKJo&amp;id=9332FC159A7E129%21241&amp;cid=09332FC159A7E129\" target=\"_blank\">download link<\/a> he provided has more updates up to Update-44EA (2020-07-12) and it still worked on my old router, so it&#8217;s not just the Update-39L3 previously discussed in the forum:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-3-1024x225.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2446\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-3-1024x225.png 1024w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-3-300x66.png 300w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-3-768x168.png 768w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-3-1536x337.png 1536w, https:\/\/wonghoi.humgar.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/image-3.png 1751w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not get discouraged when John&#8217;s Merlin fork says version 374.43 instead of 380 (a lower number). All updates, even the latest one from John still use 374.43, which I suppose it&#8217;s to mark when the two code branches part ways.
